BUY 500 BUSES! WE WON'T BE LEFT BEHIND!

Have you experienced TransLink's failure to prioritize our bus system? Have
you ever…

   - Been late because the bus was too crowded to pick you up?
   - Waited for the bus for more than 30 minutes?
   - Been assaulted or sexually harassed on an overcrowded bus or while
   waiting at night?
   - Been unable to go to a social event or visit family and friends
   because of poor service?

Then you should join the Bus Riders Union at our monthly public meeting on
February 3rd!

We will discuss our Ride with Dignity campaign and plan for action.
TransLink continues to spend its money in the wrong places: $2 billion for
the privatized Canada Line; $12.9 million per year for the Skytrain Police,
including the cost of guns and 20 new tasers; $3 billion on the Gateway
project. All of these projects take money away from services needed by
working class communities and funnel it into the pockets of wealthy
contractors. Demand that TransLink put people before profits and fund an
affordable, accessible public transit system.

Join us to demand that TransLink:

   - Buy more buses – Buy 100 expansion buses in 2007; 500 expansion
   buses by 2010; double the bus fleet by 2017.
   - Stop overcrowding – Increase bus service to meet TransLink's own
   guidelines of only 22 standing during peak hours and 7 standing during
   non-peak hours
   - End long waits – Increase bus service so that no one is waiting more
   than 30 minutes anywhere in the region

We will also launch our new photo project to document overcrowding and long
waits.

Join us to plan the first step of this project as we take to the buses with
cameras, surveys, and our leaflets to organize bus riders to fight for
dignity!
