>From Vancouver to El Salvador and back again: International Solidarity, the FMLN and the Recent Elections in El Salvador

***Please Post Widely***

Where: 419-119 West Pender Street

When: This Week! Thursday, April 13, 7-9

Join the Bus Riders Union and the FMLN for a night of discussion and report backs from the recent elections in El Salvador. Beth Grayer from the Bus Riders Union and members of the FMLN, recently returned from El Salvador, will share their thoughts about how we can bring lessons from El Salvador home to Vancouver.

The FMLN is the Left party in El Salvador working to build popular power through grassroots struggle and strategic engagement in electoral politics. In the March 2006 elections, the FMLN won 32 of 84 legislative seats and a significant portion of the municipal governments, in particular the key municipalities in San Salvador.

The Bus Riders Union is a Vancouver based, grassroots organization fighting to put the needs of transit-dependent people, who are majority women and disproportionately people of colour and aboriginal people, at the centre of public policy. The BRU invites you to partake in our discussion evening about the FMLN's movement building in El Salvador and the importance of supporting their work and taking inspiration from the FMLN, as we continue to organize here in Vancouver.

This is a free event, and snacks will be served. Everyone is welcome!
