Dear members, friends and supporters,
As you know this week is Fare Strike Week, where we are taking action to protest an inadequate transit system in the Lower Mainland.
We are also excited to let you know about 2 fundraisers happening this week, where the proceeds will go to the Bus Riders Union, so that we can continue the struggle against high fares, poor service and the heightening criminalization of bus riders. Information about the events is posted below. We hope you will consider attending them - it will be a good opportunity to unwind while supporting our work.

Should the Skytrain Police be packing a Piece?!
check it-
TransLink has announced that a new, armed Skytrain police force is taking effect on the Lower Mainland's transit system. There is also talk of installing cameras on buses and increased surveillance.
Already facing discrimination and harassment before this announcement, the implications for youth (especially youth of colour, low-income youth and hip-hop headz) are serious.
A coalition of concerned youth and their allies are coming together to address this issue in a community forum using the medium of hip-hop, to share ideas and develop a strategy because WE DON'T WANNA SEE KIDS GETTING CAPPED!
Does having guns on trains packed full of people strike you as a bad idea? Come and develop solutions with us. Some of VanCity's finest underground MCs will be throwing down.

Wed, Nov 16th - Rogr Lee plays live for BRU and Coop Radio!
At the Cellar, 1006 Granville
Doors at 8, show at 9.
Suggested donation: $8 - includes one free drink before 9 pm!
Rogr is a political funky folk-soul singer/songwriter and Eastside resident.
The new CDs, "Sexing Up th' Case for War", and "RoGr LeE's ThREe-dAY AlBUm"
are self-produced artist-responses to the new world of climate change,
anti-terrorism, equal marriage and neo-cons. Using acoustic and contemporary
soundscapes, imaginative arrangements and poetics, Rogr's current work
remains compelling and true.
Spread the word, bring your friends, get wound up, get unwound, blow off
steam on Wednesday!
See you there.
