Attention BRU members and allies: 

The Bus Riders Union has two important events this month that we hope you can attend -  

The summer of struggle for lower fares for community health and social justice is heating up, and we need all BRU members and allies to get involved!

Important TransLink Meeting
When: Wednesday, July 20 at 9am 
Where:  Stanley Park Pavilion (610 Pipeline Road) 
How:  Take the #19 into Stanley Park.

Why:  Tell TransLink board members to put a motion on the table to lower fares back to 2004 levels, as a first step towards affordable fares.  If TransLink, the Province and the Federal government can find over a billion dollars to spend on the RAV line to the airport, they can afford to lower fares for bus riders who are already suffering under the right wing attacks of the BC Liberals.   

 Come out to support the BRU and add your voice to the struggle by signing up to speak!  Delegation request forms need to be submitted by Monday at 8am, and they are available on the TransLink website.   The BRU can also help you submit your request - just give us a call at 604-215-2775. 

Public Meeting to Lower Fares Now!
When: Saturday July 23, 1pm
Where:  Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia)
Why:  Do you want to get involved in this campaign for social justice and health, but you don't know how?  Come out to this meeting, where we will be giving important updates on the successes of the campaign so far, and  talking about how you can mobilize your community to make lower fares a reality for all of us. 

Spanish translation, childcare and snacks will be available.  Traduccion al espanhol
disponible.  This is a child friendly meeting, so bring the whole family!
