Summer Sidewalk Sale!

Join Bus Riders Union organizers, members and supporters this coming
Sunday for a fundraising sidewalk sale.  Great deals on books, clothes,
household items, toys, and more!

This sale is part of the BRU goal to join in international solidarity with
organizations fighting for social change.  The proceeds of this sidewalk
sale will jointly benefit the local organizing of the Bus Riders Union and
the community health work of the Council for Health and Development in the
Philippines.

The Bus Riders Union represents the mass transit and public health needs
of the transit dependent who are majority working class and
disproportionately people of colour. The Bus Riders Union fights to put
the needs of transit dependent people at the centre of public policy. We
organize because affordable, reliable and environmentally sound mass
transit is a human right. Human and environmental needs must be the
leading social, political and economic priority. We openly challenge the
agenda to privatize public services for private profit.

The Council for Health and Development (CHD) Philippines works to develop
a people-managed health care system at the community level, ensuring
access for all levels and types of health care.  The community based
health programs shall contribute to buildling a people's health movement
that will maintain and strengthen the gains of a people-mananged health
care system and the gains of the broader movement for social change.
