Join the Bus Riders Union as we launch a campaign to stop the April, 2005
fare increase and continue the fight for affordable, accessible and
environmentally sound transit for all!

On April 1st, 2005, TransLink will raise fares again for the third time in
five years.  Just as they raise the fares on bus riders TransLink has cut
the services that transit-dependent communities rely on and plowed
billions into pro-corporate mega projects like the 'Millenium' SkyTrain
line and the Richmond-Airport-Vancouver line.

Most impact by the fare increases and the cuts are transit-dependent bus
riders: low-wage workers, welfare recipients, poeple with disabilities,
caregivers, low-income single parents.  Particularly impacted are
immigrants, Aboriginal people and other communities of colour which are
disproportionately transit-dependent.

In the wake of an almost 40% increase in fares in the last 4 years and
faced with the spectacle of millions of dollars sucked directly out of the
pockets of low-income bus riders and going directly into the coffers of
big business through the RAV fiasco, bus riders are angry and ready to
fight back.

Join us as we launch a militant and determined campaign to Stop the Fare
Increase!
