Hello Bus Riders Union Members and Supporters!

This is an update from the Bus Riders Union Planning Committee and On the
Bus Organizing Crew. Over the next couple of months, we have some
important events planned in which we encourage all members and allies to
get involved!
After over two years of organizing on the buses of our region, and
struggling with TransLink over an inhumane curfew on the transit
dependant, we FINALLY have a motion for the full reinstatement of Night
Owl Buses coming to the TransLink Board meeting in March! This is a great
victory for bus riders, but we have not won this battle yet! We need all
members and supporters to join us at a rally to build public pressure and
remind TransLink that we bus riders will not be ignored!

Night Owl Buses! End the Curfew, NOW!
Wednesday February 18th * 6:00 PM * Broadway @ Commercial

Following up from our rally, we are inviting all transit dependant people
and allies to join us at our Community Meeting to plot and plan further
strategies to win affordable, accessible, environmentally friendly
transportation for our region. At the Community Meeting we will share our
experiences on public transit, hear updates on Bus Riders Union campaigns,
and hear about what is happening at TransLink, and discuss our strategy
for the March TransLink meeting. Come and find out how to get more
involved in the only grassroots organization fighting for public transit
in the Vancouver Region!

Community Meeting
Wednesday March 10th * 6:00 PM * Little Mountain Neighborhood House
(3981 Main St.)

If you are interested in getting involved in the Bus Riders Union, we are
always looking for new members and volunteers. Volunteers can help in
many ways!
Call us anytime, or drop by during our office hours, and sign-up!
Our regular office hours are Monday-Friday 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

The Bus Riders Union is also looking for donations for our office space.
In particular, we need: bulletin boards, office supplies, folding stools
or chairs, mugs, tea towels, picture frames, flip chart stand, photo
albums, a microwave, a small TV/VCR, and a CD player!

If you can donate any of the following items - give us a call or drop by
the office during office hours.

Hope to see you all soon!
Martha Roberts
