Dear bakery people --
For the past month and a half some of us have been meeting for study
sessions to help us answer questions around who the bakery is for and how
to continue building it as a multi-racial,
multi-class, queer space. The full schedule is online here
(http://breaduprising.wordpress.com/internal-study-group-on-race-class-queerness-and-bread/).
One of our goals for the study sessions is to come up with a draft
membership model. This week, we are calling together different
organizations and people in our communities to learn about membership
models; how different organizations have asked, answered, and worked with
questions around prioritizing oppressed/marginal identities; and what has
come up as folks have worked to create organizations that work across
difference. We know that folks from SONG and The Stone House will be
participating, and we wanted to invite everyone who has been a part of the
bakery both to listen and to share lessons and thoughts that you have.
We know this is really short notice - if you can't make it and want to
share some lessons, let us know and we'd love to set up a time to talk.
We're also hoping to have more open discussions in the future. If you have
any questions, or need directions, you can reach us at (919)260-8155
(Tim), or (919)619-9935 (Noah).
Thanks!
Tim, Noah and the other members of the bakery study sessions
