1000 JOURS EN SANCTUAIRE: Justice pour Kader Maintenant!

Le 27 septembre 2008 marquera le 1000eme jour que Abdelkader (Kader)
Belaouni passe confiné dans l'église Saint-Gabriel, car on lui refuse la
liberté de vivre dans sa communauté de Pointe-St-Charles entouré de
centaines d'amis et supporters.

Le 1er janvier 2006, Kader, un homme algérien sans statut, entre en
sanctuaire à Montréal pour éviter un ordre de déportation injuste d'
Immigration et Citoyenneté Canada. Malgré le support débordant que Kader a
reçu de tous les secteurs de la société durant ces 1000 jours en sanctuaire,
incluant plus de 250 organisations de la société civile, il est demeuré un
prisonnier ne pouvant pas quitter l'église par peur d'être arrêté et
déporté.

Joignez-nous en grand nombre le 27 septembre 2008 pour montrer que la
solidarité avec Kader est plus forte que jamais et pour envoyer un message
clair et fort que son statut doit être régularisé maintenant! Nous avons
besoin d'au moins 100 personnes pour tenir des pancartes représentant dix
des 1000 jours que Kader a été forcés de passer en sanctuaire.

Le premier dévoilement grand public de la murale mobile, crée durant le fin
de semaine du 9 et 10 août 2008  par un groupe d'artistes et écrivains
locaux et de renom international en présence de plus de 150 personnes a l'
extérieure de l'église, sera présenté le 27 septembre!

1,000 DAYS IN SANCTUARY: Justice for Kader Now!

September 27th 2008 will mark the 1,000th day that Abdelkader (Kader)
Belaouni has spent within the confines of Saint-Gabriel's church, denied the
freedom to live in his community of Pointe-St-Charles and amongst his
hundreds of friends and supporters.

On January 1st, 2006, Kader, a non-status Algerian man, entered sanctuary in
Montreal to avoid an unjust deportation order from Citizenship and
Immigration Canada. Despite the outpouring of support that Kader has
received from all sectors of society during his 1,000 days of sanctuary,
including over 250 civil society organisations, he has remained a prisoner
who is unable to leave the church for fear of being arrested and deported.

Join us in large numbers on September 27th, 2008 to show that solidarity
with Kader is as strong as ever and to send a clear and loud message that
his status needs to be regularized now!  We need at least 100 people to hold
signs that will individually represent ten of the 1,000 days that Kader has
been forced to spend in sanctuary.

The first mass public showing of the mobile mural, created by a group of
locally and internationally acclaimed artists and writers in the presence of
more than 150 people gathered outside the church over the weekend of August
9th and10th 2008, will also take place on September 27th !
