Angela and Gord's artwork will be on display as part of  the Montreal
Anarchist Bookfair on the weekend of May 17-18, at the CEDA (3rd floor).
NOTE: you can view the exhibit between 10am to 6pm on May 17, and 11am to

About the artists:

Angela Sterritt is a grassroots organizer, artist and writer who belongs to
the Gitxsan Nation of the Gitanmaax band and is also of Irish descent. She
critiques the oppression that is inherent in colonial capitalist society and
works to chronicle the struggles and resistances of her people back home and
in the city through her art and writing. At the age of 17 she was taught to
carve by Nisga'a master carver Henry Mckay, and began making carving tools
under Dave Jack. She later received further training in visual arts and
political science in colonial institutions (universities). She currently
works with the Indigenous People's Free Skool, the International Indigenous
Youth Network and the Native 2010 Resistance. She also is a support worker
in the Downtown Eastside on Coast Salish Territory. Angela's artwork can be

Gord Hill, Kwakwaka'wakw. is involved in Indigenous and anti-2010
resistance. He was arrested storming the stage at the Feb 12, 2007 Olympic
'Countdown Clock' protest in Vancouver.  He is an artist, writer, and editor
of Warrior Publications (http://www.warriorpublications.com). He is the
author of "500 Years of Indigenous Resistance".

The 2010 Winter Olympics will take place on unceded indigenous land in two
years. The Olympic spectacle attacks indigenous peoples, the poor and the
Earth. In the spirit of resistance to colonialism, Angela Sterritt and Gord
Hill, two indigenous organizers based in occupied "British Columbia", will
host a multimedia presentation entitled: "No Olympics on Stolen Land" at
Montreal's Anarchist Bookfair, as part of the Resistance 2010 Info Room.

Colonialism, Anarchism and Indigenism

Part of the Day of Anarchist Workshops and Presentations*

This workshop presentation will explore the ongoing struggle against
colonialism and capitalism, from the perspective of indigenous resistance
and sovereignty, both historical and contemporary. In doing so, the concept
of "anarcho-indigenism" (or "anarchist indigenism") – which has become more
and more openly expressed – will be critically explored. Essentially, this
presentation will address the questions: "What is "anarcho-indigenism" and
what does it mean to be an "anarcho-indigenist?"

Presented by Gord Hill, Kwakwaka'wakw, currently based in the Coast Salish
Territories; he is an artist, writer, and editor of Warrior Publications, as
well as the author of "500 Years of Indigenous Resistance." Background to

Les artistes:

Angela Sterritt est une militante, artiste et écrivaine appartenant à la
Nation Gitxsan du clan Gitanmaax et également de descendance irlandaise. Son
travaille critique l'oppression inhérente à la société colonialiste et
capitaliste et raconte les luttes et la résistance de son peuple, sur leur
terres et en milieu urbain. Dès l'âge de 17 ans, elle apprend la gravure
sous la tutelle du maître Nisga'a Henry Mckay. Elle commence à fabriquer des
outils sous Dave Jack, et reçoit par après une formation en arts visuels et
en sciences politiques, dans des institutions coloniales (universités). Elle
travaille actuellement avec le projet Indigenous People's Free Skool, avec
le Réseau international de la jeunesse autochtone ainsi qu'avec Native
Resistance 2010. Elle est également travailleuse de rue dans le quartier

Gord Hill est d'origine Kwakwaka'wakw. Il est impliqué dans divers
mouvements de résistance autochtone ainsi que dans la résistance contre les
Jeux olympiques de 2010. Il a été arrêté le 12 février 2007, lors d'une
action contre le "Countdown Clock" des JO à Vancouver. Gord Hill est un
artiste, écrivain et éditeurs aux publications Warrior (
www.warriorpublications.com). Il est l'auteur du texte "500 ans de
résistance autochtone".

n'ont jamais été cédées. Le spectacle olympique est une attaque contre les
peuples autochtones, les pauvres et la Terre. Dans l'esprit de la résistance
au colonialisme, Angela Sterritt et Gord Hill, deux militants autochtones
basés dans les territoires occupés de la "Colombie-Britannique" animeront
une présentation multimédia intitulée "Pas de Jeux Olympiques sur des terres

Colonialisme, anarchisme et "autochtonisme"

Dans le cadre de la Journée des ateliers et présentations anarchistes*

Cet atelier abordera les luttes actuelles contre le colonialisme et le
capitalisme, depuis une perspective (historique et contemporaine) de
résistance et de souveraineté autochtone. Nous explorerons en même temps le
concept "d'anarcho-autochtonisme" (anarchisme autochtoniste), un néologisme
employé de plus en plus ouvertement. Principalement cet atelier cherchera à
répondre aux questions "Qu'est-ce que "l'anarcho-autochtonisme?" et "Qui
sont les "anarcho-autochtonistes?"

Cet atelier sera animé par Gord Hill, Kwakwaka'wakw, qui réside actuellement
dans les territoires de Coast Salish, C.-B. Gord est artiste, auteur et
rédacteur en chef de Warrior Publications. Il a écrit et publié le livre
