Participons au piquetage pour dénoncer la campagne de recrutement de
l'armée, l'augmentation des investissements militaires et la guerre
d'occupation en Afghanistan.

La campagne actuelle de recrutement, la plus grande depuis la 2e Guerre
mondiale, vise à augmenter considérablement les effectifs de l'armée
canadienne et à alimenter la guerre d'occupation en Afghanistan. Pour
répondre aux ambitieux objectifs de recrutement, les recruteurs profitent de
l'état de précarité financière des étudiants en leur promettant une
éducation subventionnée. Exigeons du financement pour l'éducation, pas pour
des guerres d'occupation !!!

Coût de la gratuité scolaire au QC: 0.55 G$
Coût des 17 nouveaux avions achetés la semaine dernière par l'armée: 4.6G$
(achat conditionnel à "d'importants" investissements au Canada de la part du
fabriquant de l'avion, notamment la fondation et le financement d'un
laboratoire de développement de technologies de l'armement à l'université de
Terre-Neuve)


Autre point:  l'armée a tenu un kiosque de recrutement aujourd'hui (24
janvier) au metro Berri-UQAM. Personne ne savait que c'était prévu (ce
n'était pas annoncé), jusqu'à ce qu'une uqamienne voit le kiosque ce matin:
3 heures plus tard, 50 personnes se sont mobilisées pour faire une longue
perturbation très mouvementée !!

We encourage you to join us in this picket to oppose the current campaign of
military recruitment, the increase in military spending, and the war of
occupation in Afghanistan.

The current recruiting campaign by the military is the largest since the
Second World War, and helps fuel the war of occupation in Afghanistan.
Military recruiters exploit the financial precarity of students, and promise
a subsidized education. We should demand financing for education, not wars
of occupation!!!

Cost of free tuition in Quebec: 0.55 G$
Cost of 17 new planes bought last week by the army: 4.6G$


Another point: the Canadian Forces had a recruitment table today (January
24) at Berri-UQAM metro. No one knew it was scheduled beforehand (it was
unannounced) until a UQAM student saw the kiosk this morning; 3 hours later,
50 people were mobilized to put together a long and eventful disruption!!
