BOYCOTT THE ISRAELI FILM FESTIVAL! END ISRAELI APARTHEID!

As part of the international campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions
against Israel,
In the context of a week of action against Israeli occupation and apartheid,

PICKET AND OUTDOOR FILM PROJECTION
to BOYCOTT the 2nd ISRAELI FILM FESTIVAL IN MONTREAL

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
TUESDAY, JUNE 5th, 6:30pm-9:30pm
Cinéma du Parc
3575 avenue du Parc
Metro Place des Arts
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

In early June, Palestinians will mark 40 years of Israel's illegal military
occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip and the Syrian Golan
heights, and the 59th anniversary of the 1948 Palestinian Nakba ("great
disaster" in Arabic) that saw the creation of the state of Israel through
the displacement of over 750 000 indigenous Palestinians and the
establishment of an exclusive, colonial state in historic Palestine. Groups
working in solidarity with the people of Palestine living under apartheid,
under occupation and in exile, have responded to a call from the Palestinian
organizations at the forefront of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions
campaign against Israeli apartheid and are holding actions globally to mark
these anniversaries. In Montreal, a week of actions
(http://tadamon.resist.ca/index.php/post/712) has been organized to denounce
40 years of Israeli occupation and 59 years of Israeli Apartheid.

In addition to the academic and economic boycott, in August 2006, over 100
Palestinian filmmakers, artists and cultural workers called on filmmakers
and artists worldwide to cancel art exhibitions planned in Israel, to
boycott Israeli film festivals, Israeli cultural venues, and to end all
cooperation with Israeli art, film and cultural organizations and
institutions sponsored by the Israeli government (see www.pacbi.org).

It is therefore cynical that supporters of Israeli apartheid, sponsored by,
among others, the Israeli consulate in Montreal, have chosen this
particularly sad anniversary to organise an Israeli film festival,
apparently trying to divert public attention away from the darker side of
Israel policy and the Palestinian tragedy: apartheid, military occupation
and documented war crimes.

JOIN US on Tuesday 5th of June at 6:30pm, in a picket where we will screen
Palestinian movies in front of Cinéma du Parc in downtown Montreal.

*** We call upon Cinéma du Parc to cancel the Israeli film festival.
*** We call upon everybody to boycott this event!
