Chers ami-es,

Le 1er janvier 2008 marquera le deuxième anniversaire du sanctuaire
d'Abdelkader (Kader) Belaouni, qui a pris refuge en 2006 à l'Église
Saint-Gabriel. Kader continue d'exiger une régularisation immédiate de son
statut, afin qu'il puisse quitter l'église sans risquer l'arrestation et
la déportation et qu'il puisse continuer sa vie au Canada.


"DEUX ANS, C'EST DEUX ANS DE TROP!"
Journée internationale d'action et Souper communautaire

Sous la bannière "Deux ans, c'est deux ans de trop: un statut pour Kader
maintenant!", nous vous invitons à vous joindre à nous pour deux
événements très importants. D'abord, le 18 janvier 2008 sera une journée
internationale d'action, au cours de laquelle nous marcherons dans les
rues de Montréal pour exiger un "Statut pour Kader MAINTENANT!". Ensuite,
le 26 janvier, une soirée populaire aura lieu à l'Église Saint-Gabriel,
avec concert, repas gratuit et mises à jour sur la campagne de Kader pour
l'obtention de ses papiers. Plus de détails à venir bientôt...

En plus de ces événements, il est nécessaire de maintenir une pression
constante auprès d'Immigration Canada et de déployer des efforts soutenus
afin de faire vivre une campagne énergique. Si vous voulez en savoir plus

VENTE DE CALENDRIERS

Le Calendrier Certain Days 2008 (sur le thème des prisonniers politiques),
est disponible dès maintenant, et des membres du Comité de soutien à
Abdelkader Belaouni en vendent présentement des copies dans le but de
lever des fonds pour la campagne. Ce calendrier en est à sa 7ème édition,
et comprend plusieurs superbes pages de dessins, oeuvres d'arts et écrits
(en anglais seulement) par ou à propos de prisonniers politiques et
prisonniers de guerre (actuels et anciens), et sur différents mouvements
sociaux reliés à cette cause. Le Calendrier 2008 est dédié à la lutte des
Black Panthers; sa réalisation a été coordonnée par trois prisonniers
politiques (Herman Bell, Seth Hayes et David Gilbert) ainsi que par un

Les calendriers sont en vente au coût de $15 chacun. De ce montant, $5
sont versés directement à la lutte de Kader pour un statut. D'autres
sommes sont aussi versées aux groupes "New York State Task Force on
Political Prisoners" (groupe de travail sur les prisonniers politiques
basé à New York), aux "San Francisco 8" et au collectif Addameer. Des dons
additionnels à la campagne de Kader sont également les bienvenues!

Belaouni took sanctuary in St. Gabriel's Church. Kader continues to
demand an immediate regularization of his status so that he can leave
the church without the risk of arrest and deportation, and continue his
life here, in Canada.


"TWO YEARS, TOO MANY!"
International Day of Action & Community Supper

Under the heading of "Two years, too many, Status for Kader NOW!", we
invite you to join us at two important events: January 18th will be an
international day of action, during which we will hold a march through
downtown Montreal to demand "Status for Kader NOW!"; and on January
26th, a community event will be held at St. Gabriel's church, featuring
live performances, a free meal, and updates on Kader's campaign for
status. Stay tuned for more details!

As well, constant support is always needed in order to sustain this
campaign, and to maintain pressure on Immigration Canada. If you are

CALENDAR FUNDRAISER

The 2008 Certain Days Political Prisoner calendar is now available, and
members of the Committee to Support Abdelkader Belaouni are selling the
calendar as a fundraiser to support Kader's ongoing campaign from
sanctuary! In its 7th year of production, it's a beautiful calendar with
several pages of artwork and writing (currently in english only) created
by and about former and current political prisoners and prisoners of
war, and related social justice movements. This year's calendar is
dedicated to the legacy of the Black Panthers. The project is
coordinated by three political prisoners (Herman Bell, Seth Hayes, and
David Gilbert) and an outside organizing collective based in Montreal
[for more details, and a glimpse at some of the amazing art work &
writings included, you can visit the website www.certaindays.org].

The calendar sells for $15 a piece, with $5 of the proceeds going
directly towards Kader's ongoing fight for status, and with further
proceeds going towards the New York State Task Force on Political
Prisoners, the San Francisco 8 and Addameer. Additional donations
towards Kader's campaign are always welcome, as well!
