While not widely known to the public in Canada, the USA, or Mexico, the
Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) seeks to harmonize the security,
economic, and foreign policies of all 3 countries on the North American
continent.

As George W. Bush, Stephen Harper, and Felipe Calderon are preparing for
the 3 summit of the "3 amigos", set to take place in Montebello, Quebec,
August 20-21, numerous groups in social movements throughout the continent
are also mobilizing against the SPP and all the policies that it seeks to
implement.

In this report, we hear from Dr. Alejandro Villamar of the RMALC (Red
Mexicana de Accion Frente al Libre Comercio), an NGO doing popular
education around the SPP (known as ASPAN in Spanish) in Mexico. Here he
discusses the projected impacts that the SPP could have on workers,
migrants, and the general Mexican public.
