This Saturday, Afghan President Hamid Karzai will be speaking to the
Montreal Council on Foreign Relations (CORIM) on “Afghanistan and Canadian
Development Cooperation”. Karzai will be introduced by Conservative
Minister of International Cooperation Josée Verner.

The CORIM event is co-sponsored by SNC-Lavalin, and the government-funded
“NGO” Rights and Democracy. Other CORIM sponsors include infamous war
profiteering companies like: Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney and Bell
Helicopter.

Block the Empire-Montreal, a local anti-war, anti-imperialist group, is
organizing a picket to
raise awareness about Canada’s real role in Afghanistan. We are picketing
to demand true solidarity, not charity, and to demand the withdrawal of
all Canadian troops from Afghanistan. We are picketing to denounce the
role of the Canadian military, corporations and so-called “development”
agencies in the destructive occupation of Afghanistan.

Le président Afghan Hamid Karzai s’adressera ce samedi au Conseil des
relations internationales de Montréal (CORIM), au sujet de “l’Afghanistan
et la coopération canadienne au développement”. Karzai sera accueilli par
la Ministre de la Coopération internationale du gouvernement Conservateur,
Josée Verner. Cet événement du CORIM est co-commandité par SNC-Lavalin et
Droits et démocratie, une “ONG” financée par le gouvernement. Parmi les
autres commanditaires de CORIM, notons quelques corporations qui font
profitent de la guerre, notamment Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney et Bell
Helicopter Textron.

Bloquez l’empire Montréal, un collectif local anti-impérialiste et
anti-guerre, organise une
manifestation afin de mettre en lumière le véritable rôle du Canada en
Afghanistan. Nous manifestons pour exiger un véritable soutien solidaire,
pas seulement de la charité, et pour revendiquer le retrait de toutes les
troupes canadiennes en Afghanistan. Nous manifestons pour dénoncer le rôle
de l’armée, des corporations et des soi-disant agences de “développement”
canadiennes.
