6pm: Film "Borderless: A docu-poem about the lives of undocumented
workers" (25 mins)
"Borderless" gives voice to the struggles and dreams of undocumented
workers in Canada. Geraldo, a Costa Rican construction worker, and
Angela, a second-generation Caribbean domestic worker, struggle
against labour exploitation. Directed by Min Sook Lee. Narration by
poet Dionne Brand.
6:30pm: Introduction to Solidarity Across Borders
6:45pm: Presentation by Amparo Torres
Amparo is a single mother and refugee to Canada. She was an active
trade unionist and political leader in her native Colombia, and
intitially accepted as a refugee because the United Nations High
Commission for Refugees had determined that her life was in danger.
However, the Canadian government is now claiming that Amparo is
"inadmissible" to Canada, falsely accusing her under the
anti-terrorism provisions of the Immigration and Refugee Protection
Act of being a supporter and/or member of the Revolutionary Armed
Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP), a Colombian insurgent guerrilla
organization which was added to the list of "terrorist organizations"
in April 2003.

main demands: the regularization of all non-status people (Status for All!), an
end to deportations and detentions, and the abolition of security certificates.
