TOMORROW: We say NO to Heather and her corporate friends!
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Heather's Speech:
Tuesday, November 21st at Noon
The Queen Elizabeth Hotel, 900 René-Lévesque Blvd. W.
McGill students, meet in the lobby of the Shatner building at 11:30am
:::::::::::::::::::::::::
Tomorrow our principal will be speaking to the corporate elite of the Board
of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. Her lecture is sponsored by weapons
manufacturers SNC-Lavalin and Bombardier, and she is telling them about the
greater role that they can have in sponsoring university research through
"cross-sector partnerships" between universities and the private sector.
Three years of Heather Munroe-Blum as CEO of McGill University Inc. is
enough! During her term:
- International tuition has been illegally raised and continues to
rise
- She has lobbied for the tuition freeze to be lifted
- The board of governors has been restructured along a corporate
governance model
- She has promoted more corporate involvement in research
While she schmoozes with her corporate pals, student debt is increasing and
academic integrity is being undermined. As students we reject these attacks
on public education, denounce Heather Munroe-Blum for actively working
against student interests, and call for free public education and a
democratic university.
