Rassemblement de solidarité avec le peuple palestinien

À l'occasion du deuxième anniversaire de l'avis historique rendu par la
Cour internationale de Justice (CIJ) réitérant que le régime
d'occupation israélien est illégal et statuant que le Mur construit par
Israël en Palestine est aussi illégal et doit être démoli, la /Coalition
pour la justice et la paix en Palestine/ appelle à un rassemblement de
solidarité avec le peuple palestinien.



Deux ans plus tard, la construction du Mur et les autres actions
illégales d'Israël se poursuivent en toute impunité: l'occupation
militaire, l'expansion des colonies, la négation du droit au retour des
réfugiés, les bombardements de population civile, les assassinats
"sélectifs", les confiscations de terres, les emprisonnements sans
procès, la torture.  Bouclages et postes de contrôle coupent les villes
les unes des autres et multiplient les délais et les tracasseries pour
la moindre activité quotidienne (se rendre à l'école ou au travail,
s'approvisionner en nourriture, visiter sa famille ou ses amis, etc.).
L'humiliation de tout un peuple est quotidienne.



Récemment, la situation a encore empiré avec le refus des puissances
occidentales de reconnaître les résultats des élections parlementaires
démocratiques, qui ont vu le Hamas remporter la victoire, et la coupure
de l'aide à l'Autorité palestinienne.  La situation qui en résulte est
catastrophique pour le peuple palestinien : c'est son droit à
l'éducation, son droit au travail et même son droit à se nourrir qui
sont ciblés et le Canada a été le premier pays à ainsi attaquer les
droits fondamentaux du peuple palestinien en coupant subitement son
aide!  De plus, cette politique d'étouffement, anti-démocratique et
inhumaine, avive considérablement les tensions au sein de la population
palestinienne au point d'accroître les risques de guerre civile...



En ce moment même, sous prétexte que des forces de résistance
palestiniennes détiennent _un_ soldat israélien alors qu'Israël détient
arbitrairement et de façon routinière _des milliers_ de Palestiniens,
combattants et non-combattants, Israël se livre à un nouvel assaut
destructeur dans la Bande de Gaza, à de nouveaux châtiments collectifs
(destruction de ponts et de l'unique centrale de distribution
électrique) contre le peuple palestinien, autant de crimes au regard du
droit international qui resteront à nouveau impunis...



Samedi le 8 juillet, nous affirmerons :

=> qu'Israël doit se conformer au droit international; que le Mur doit
être démoli et que l'occupation et la colonisation doivent prendre fin
dès maintenant;

=> que l'impunité et les appuis dont jouit l'État israélien doivent cesser;

=> que le Canada doit rétablir immédiatement son aide à l'Autorité
palestinienne et qu'il doit dénoncer les crimes commis par l'État
israélien au regard du droit international et soutenir activement
l'application du droit à l'autodétermination du peuple palestinien.



Suite au rassemblement, de nombreuses équipes de volontaires joindront
le geste à la parole en se rendant dans diverses succursales de la SAQ,
pour protester contre la vente de vins provenant des colonies illégales
du Golan occupé par Israël et faire signer une pétition pour que cela
s'arrête immédiatement.



Le 8 juillet 2006, dans une période particulièrement difficile et
tragique de son histoire, manifestons ouvertement, à nouveau, notre
solidarité active avec le peuple palestinien !



Le Mur doit tomber.  L'occupation et la colonisation doivent cesser.

Le Canada doit l'exiger.  À nous d'y voir !

Solidarity Rally with the Palestinian people

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the historical opinion
given by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) reiterating that the
Israeli occupation regime is illegal and establishing that the Wall
built by Israel in Palestine is also illegal and must be demolished, the
/Coalition for Justice and Peace in Palestine/ calls a rally of
solidarity with the Palestinian people.



Two year later, the construction of the Wall and the other illegal
actions of Israel continue with total impunity: the military occupation,
the expansion of settlements, the denial of the right of return of
refugees, the bombardments against the civilian population, the
"selective" assassinations, the confiscations of land, the detentions
without trial, and torture.  Closures and checkpoints cut cities from
one another and create multiple delays and harassment for the most
ordinary daily activities (going to school, going to work, getting some
food and supplies, visiting family or friends, etc.).  An entire people,
humiliated daily.



Recently, the situation got even worse with the refusal of Western
powers to recognize the results of democratic parliamentary elections
that saw the victory of Hamas, and the cutting off of funding to the
Palestinian Authority.  The resulting situation is catastrophic for the
Palestinian people : its very right to education, its right to work, and
even its right to food are being targeted and Canada was the first
country to attack in this way the fundamental rights of the Palestinian
people by suddenly cutting off its aid!  Moreover, this antidemocratic
and inhumane policy of strangulation, considerably heightens tensions
within the Palestinian population to the point of increasing the risks
of civil war...



At this very moment, under the pretext that some Palestinian resistance
forces are detaining _one_ Israeli soldier -- when Israel arbitrarily
and routinely detains _thousands_ of Palestinians, resistance fighters
and ordinary civilians -- Israel is engaged in yet another devastating
assault on the Gaza Strip, in a new wave of collective punishments
(destruction of bridges and of the only electrical distribution station)
against the Palestinian people, which are all crimes under international
law but which will, again, remain unpunished...



On Saturday, 8 July, we will reaffirm:

=> that Israel must comply with international law; that the Wall must be
demolished, and that the occupation and the colonization must cease
immediately;

=> that the impunity and support which the Israeli State benefits from
must cease;

=> that Canada must immediately restore its aid to the Palestinian
Authority, and that it must denounce the crimes committed by the State
of Israel under international law, and actively support the
implementation of the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people.



Just after the rally, several teams of volunteers will immediately
follow up on these demands with some concrete action by going to various
SAQ stores to protest against the fact that the SAQ sells some wines
produced in the illegal Israeli colonies of the occupied Golan and to
gather signatures on a petition demanding that the SAQ immediately stop
that.



On July 8th 2006, in a particularly difficult and tragic period of its
history, let us openly demonstrate, once again, our active solidarity
with the Palestinian people!



The Wall must fall.  The occupation and the colonization must stop.

Canada must demand this.  We must see to it that it does !
