[Blacklabcollective] IMPORTANT: fire inspection shit

as an update:
-van fire (NOT the fire dept, to be clear) came and tested and tagged our
fire extinguishers today so they are up to date
-they said we only need 2, one near each exit (i guess the ratio required
is one for every 75 ft)
-they mounted them for us for an extra $10 (worth it cause i asked if they
needed a special type of mount and they do, i.e. we couldn't have built
something shitty to mount them diy styles)
-i asked about exit signs and the guy said that if the space is only used
privately that exit signs aren't tooootally necessary, which is what we're
pushing for when the actual fire inspector comes anyways, so knowing that,
i can argue that factor if i can't find exit signs by the time they come
-PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR EXIT SIGNS ANYWAYS! i have looked at 2 dollar
stores so far with no luck, so if you see any around grab em! it would be a
good thing to put up even if it is kind of 'extra'. we need like 2 more.
-total cost of this pre-emptive prep for the inspection was $71.40, which i
took from the money box. i got an invoice too. good thing we did it cause
the guy said the city charges over $200 to reinspect (i.e. if we had out of
date fire extinguishers or they werent mounted etc and they had to come
back to make sure we did those things we could have been charged for that!)
ok so fingers crossed the fire dept gets back to me soon and we get the go
ahead! in the meantime PLEASE remember to stash any evidence of illegal
booze sales (empties, the chalkboard sign, etcetc) extra thoroughly after
any shows so that i don't have to do a last minute tidy when they come!
thank u and good day
