Sorry I was poor at replying, I'm not 100% sure which way to go. I like keeping it low cost too. I'm going to reread all this. I agree on the shirts and tote bags!

This being said, the membership system is partially a way of fundraising and partially a way of circumventing an illegitimacy problem. I agree that if we do impose one it should be as cheap as possible vis-a-vis getting a vote at the AGM, but if it's also a way of fundraising we should make it a tiered system. Do people just want to scrap the idea though?

I don't know much about the non-profit stuff, I always just deferred to whatever Anju said, but this has been tabled for so long that I don't remember the initial discussion. I'm not really committed to anything and I'm fine with what everyone else decides, but if we are doing membership for logistical/practical reasons then I think its probably going to be more effective to keep membership costs low so everyone joins. But also maybe the whole project is more of a pain in the ass than its worth, unless you're keen on doing it because of its fundraising potential?

Initially I thought it was proposed when were trying to get the space, and not just the collective, non-profit status, and get the space recognized as legit by the city. But now that's not our plan, right? So what purpose does membership serve, or is it just something we want to do to raise $$?
>>> Personally, I think our AGM should only be either (1) open to only the collective; or (2) open to the public in general; or (3) open to members if say membership cost like 10$. But paying 50$ or 100$ and getting a vote at the AGM out of it seems weird to me, like you can buy a vote if you have a lot of money. Anyways, that's just my two cents.
