Yeah there were a couple other things at that show that I thought merited discussion as well. First off, we need to make sure we treat our volunteers respectfully. The bar staffs instructions are to not let anyone except the bottom liner or other collective members behind the bar, but they don't necessarily know who all the collective members are. So making sure to say "hey my name is _____ and I'm in the collective, I need behind to the bar because ____" relieves a lot of stress for them rather than blowing past them when their busy. Same goes with door people, who are supposed to hit everyone up for cash, and don't necessarily know all the collective memebers.

Another thing that sketched me out at the last two shows I did is bar $$. If I spend $400 on beer and we sell out, even accounting for band & volunteer drinks we should still have more than $100 profit. I don't know what is going on but at the Halloween show and at this show that has been the case. Packed gig, sold out bar, tiny bar profit. I don't know if people are grabbing beers and ciders at the end of the night but something is clearly off. Our markup on booze is tiny, beers at cost are $1.50 and ciders are $2.50 each, but even with collective members buying drinks for $2 and $3 this doesn't make any sense to me.

And yeah, undercover cops. They didn't come inside but they were milling around the door watching and listening to people outside. More emphasis on keeping drinks inside and keeping respect for a clear sidewalk. And again, between that, graffiti notice, and fire inspector, we are clearly on the city's radar. Might be time to start revisiting the licensing talk.

I didn't know about fashionism guys car. That's a super bummer.

When I tried to approach him, the members of his band defended his actions saying "Look, man, his window got broke, at least he didn't hit someone, etc." I explained that this happens in the neighborhood and he needed to calm down and chill out if he wanted to play BL again, but this caused him to leave in a speeding huff.
