Hey! Doing my best to answer these questions, and I'm sorry if I answer
some of them with more questions.

1. Is having a business license/being legal as a VENUE a priority? Would it
suffice to be a business as a drop-in centre/zine library instead?
Would getting a business license that said VENUE primary get us
into hot water? I realize there are legal repercussions around not getting
a business license after a certain amount of time operating, but I don't
really understand what they are. I don't understand the legal fine print on
the differences, but I lean towards drop-in centre or zine library or art
space and then accessing some arbitrary amount of special even licenses
rather than actually operating as a venue, but I'm not super committed to
that either.

2. When should we have our AGM? It would be ideal to have it at the same
time every year.
Maybe January or February? When things are slow and people are
bored and have time?

3. Are we interested in pursuing charitable status?
Charitable status/not paying taxes sounds cool, and i think we
could argue that we do 'activities beneficial to the community as a whole,'
but we don't presently have drop in hours. If we were to access grant money
to pay someone to work open hours would we need to do that before applying
for charitable status or after? Also if people could write donations to us
off on their taxes that might be incentive to people to donate?

4. Are we interested in pursuing grants? If so, are we ok with having paid
staff for specific projects?
Grants sound great to me. After discussing all that stuff at some
length, i think paying a staff for specific projects is fine, especially
something like open hours.

5. Does anyone have specific grant ideas in mind that might fit any of the
Ideas I put in the document?

6. Is anyone interested in writing grant applications? Or co-writing them?
Get Tara! She said she knows things! I think I remember Eris &
Megan expressing that they had some knowledge/experience/interest there?

Thanks for all your work on this Anju! I'm happy to help with the
charitable status/business licensing aspects, but I don't have a lot of
knowledge, I'm mostly just interest in helping ensure the security and
longevity of the space.

xoxo L
