Yeah lets have a meeting! I like the doodle, can we make one for April
meeting? As far as that stuff goes, I think making no BYOB will discourage
folks from coming/ lead to folks sneaking in beer anyway/ more conflict/
more bottlenecking at the door while bag checking, etc.
If it WAS no byob I think reducing the price of beer sales would be a good
idea (like if they are 1.37/can for us, then make em 3 bux so we are making
100% profit instead of 175% or whatever it is now) and maybe that would be
an incentive for folks to abide
As far as the door cut goes, I think on bigger nights with touring acts or
local only shows, taking 50% of door would work, but perhaps less attended
shows with touring bands we could try and afford to give the touring bands
as much as we can, and give the locals gas money, or nothing if they are
down.
Most people are understanding that it is a DIY space, and we can't have
raves like Red Gate (who take a lot more than we do) to pay our rent. Folks
will understand and if promoters are crafty, chill, DIY enough they can
work around costs and still put on a great gig.
But yeah, these are all just suggestions and ideas and I am obviously open
to discussion and whatever works for everyone.
doodle me!!
Maybe at a meeting we could come up with a template for this that works for
everyone. Those are my thoughts.
