[Blacklabcollective] Space update: soundproofing and general housekeeping.

Hey yall,

So yesterday Blair, Kati J, Lindsay and I went to home Depot and got
roughly 200 bux worth of wood and supplies.

We painted a bunch of pieces of nice plywood for the exterior of the space.
We still are looking for a muralist, would it be cool to put the word out
on fb? Not sure if this was discussed at the meeting but it'd be cool to
get a Coast Salish artist if everyone is down with that. Something for the
neighbourhood first and the punks second, ha.

The exterior hasn't been touched yet. The pieces for outside are leaning
against the wall behind the couch. The 2x3s are in the back hallway. Please
leave these for that project.

We also got some light pulley switches put in, one for the northern ceiling
fan and one for the tool room. The tool room one broke today but it just
needs some wire like the fan one.

There is also a little piece of wood for the bathroom hole that needs to be
put up, it is in a green crate with other wood in the back room.

Got hooks for the peg board, hung some tools up.

Soundproofed the rest of the alcove. The doors are also done and there is
no inside handle for now, but you can easily pull it closed with the spring
at the top. The top of the entrance alcove can support a couple humans but
probably not more than two in case yall are up there.

The Styrofoaming is all done, so if anyone wants to use the remaining
pieces lemme know else I will put em up on the Internet in case our pals
need any

Still need to carpet the east window and a bit of the wall.

Also the bathroom got painted but the graffiti is still showing through. I
am okay with bathroom graffiti but it's to everyone if we wanna paint over
it completely.

There was a tub of rat posion spilled all over the tool room shelf.
Probably a rat. In the future if folks find any spills, dead rats, etc,
just send an email about it if you don't have time to deal with it just so
everyone is aware going into the space of potential hazards. We've been
real good at this so far just a reminder.

So the space is all cleaned out and ready for the show on Wednesday.

Couple things,

I was talking with some folks about hosting sober meetings at the space on
Saturdays, so after the tenant meetings and before any shows. I would be
into bottomlining these.

Also would folks be down with increasing the collective by like, 5 people?
I think the space is a lot more work than we think and could be used to a
fuller potential if we tried to involve maybe a younger more proactive in
screening, and other day time projects stuff. I feel like that whole back
room could be something real cool.

These are just thought farts, I was in there today and just thinking bout
stuff.

Anyway hope yall are good, any questions about soundproof stuff lemme know.
Also I dunno if my last email worked but if someone could update the fb
page with the correct email that would rule.
