I should have posted these notes Tuesday :/
There was an unexpected meeting held Monday night at the Bikes Del Pueblo
workshop at the Snowdrop house. We discussed a possible fundraiser event to
help us raise some money and awareness for and about the shop.
In attendance: Ken, Andres, Kelly, Noelle, Asha, and people walking around
the house.
EVENT:
A group ride/Block party that consists of 4 stops at different locations in
which a band or performance will be held. It will take place sometime in
late July.
To make ze moneyz, we could sell-
Shit
Food
Raffle bikes
Donation
Face painting (donation-we want more poeple with paint on their faces
around)
We would like to obtain-
A megaphone
A radio/CD player (for the bikes)
A flat/repair crew
...Bands
and permission from each place we stop at
*Ken knows someone named Stinky who works with the evoke dance company, and
wants to try to get them to put on a performance
*We met someone in TJ named Henry who makes really awesome patches. so we're
going to try to go back and look for him and get him to make us some BDP
patches.
*Ken also wants to get a new up and coming group involved called the New
Bees
Stuff to do:
Design a patch
Design a flyer
Come up with name for the event
Make list of what this is going to cost (or how much we think it will cost)
*Raise money- Busk on the street, sell bikes'n'stuff
We also had a small discussion about What we'd like to start happening on
Monday nights.
We want to have more specific classes, such as:
A wheel building class (Richie from Adams Avenue Bike showed interest in
teaching this class)
Woman/Trans nights
Singles Night (fix your relationship AND your bike!)...this night might not
happen :)
On the back of the BDP flyer, we'd like to have a calender and a map so
people can find us and know what's going on.
Ok, that's it. Next unofficial meeting with be at BDP/Market Saturday
(today, June 12)
Next Official meetings ( I assume) will be Mondays and Thursdays at the
workshop until the event. The maybe they'll move to Once a week after the
event.
We should get mo peepz on this e-mail thing. We should start collecting :)
...and flyering...and wearing rocket shoes.
