Hello,

I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to extend an invitation to all of
you for a wonderful pre-Christmas event this Sunday, December 12th. Schools for
Chiapas is an organization working in solidarity with the Zapatista indigenous
communities in Chiapas, Mexico. We work on several areas such as education,
indigenous agriculture, and health. As a means to fundraise, we sell "fairer
trade" products from artisans in the Chiapas communities in order to create
revenue to return to the community for supplies and building materials. On
Sunday we will be having both an informational and social gathering in order to
share the knowledge from our last trips to Chiapas during this Fall as well as
fundraise for next year. Please review the information below:

A Zapatista Holiday Celebration!

Join us for a festive afternoon with interesting people, great conversation,
Chiapas craft sale, music, and outstanding beer tasting. Meet new friends and
catch up with folks you’ve known for years. Hear the latest news from Chiapas.

Culture: Participatory Food * Music * Poetry * Theatre * Dance
Potluck food and drink welcome, but not required. Participatory cultural
activities welcome or just sit back and enjoy! Bring a dish, play an
instrument, share a dance, sing a song, read a poem, or play your favorite CD.

Shop while you party! You can support the Mayan craftspeople in the autonomous
communities of Chiapas by buying a holiday gift. Beautiful craft items,
Zapatista coffee, and indigenous music.

Chiapas: News, slide show, and analysis from the School for Chiapas team who
worked in Chiapas during November 2010. Optional presentations will be at 3pm
and 5pm.

Drinks:We’ll be brewing up a special holiday corn beer all afternoon and tasting
previous batches!
Yup, you can see how beer is made and actually help craft a unique beverage for
2011.
