Hi there,
sorry have taken so long to get back to you about the about and background pages... Think both sections are good....
I really like how the background section includes the individual issues and demands, that works well....

just had a quick look over the notes from the phone link up we had a few weeks ago I have pasted them in below in-case people have missed them or like me needed a refresher on where we'd like to head with action against BHP....

It'd be great if we could have a bit more dialogue and input on how we're going to do some of these things- eg. how to better engage communities affected, how and who is currently or intending to approach shareholders and unions, can people on this list provide material for the website... photo's, audio recordings, youtube video... the website is a tool to get the word out there about what is happening, so let's make that happen...

Mia

Need more work on:

Need to build more networks with
communities globally...

Communications- needs to set up a list serv
(so that no need to add Cc’s, just keep adding through the list serv/ for
discussions can step away from list to slow the e-mail traffic) (Mia to send
out invitation to list- stress the point that people in communities affected by
BHP mines should be invited onto this list)

More work on the website              -
add more detail too the background and about us section                                                             on
website (Richard to draft this week)

–
links to other websites

–
More material needed/ testimonies/
audio/ youtube video for new categories in community testimonies and expert
testimonies/ multimedia/ press/

Priorities: will become apparent through the discussions on the list serv

Capacity:

Sakura to teach Richard and Mia to upload
on the website

Timeline:

2010 Groundwork for shareholder resolution
in 2011

* Ecumenical Council for Corporate
Responsibility, is laying groundwork for shareholder resolution... engaging BHP
on Free Prior and Informed Consent (incase they agree to it without shareholder
resolution).... this group to draft resolution to take to the BHP AGM in 2011
on FPIC.

* Start making contact with superfund’s
build on relationships with unions and BHP Shareholders.

*Work towards an international gathering in
the UK or Australia (big funding drive)

Dear all,

Sakura has posted some more material on the BHP Billiton Watch website.

Please take a look at the About section at http://bhpbillitonwatch.wordpress.com/about/ and the Background section at http://bhpbillitonwatch.wordpress.com/background/ and let us all know what you think.

The site is still under construction and it would be good to have material from directly affected communities. The hope is that the website and this email list can help link up and strengthen grassroots struggles against BHP Billiton and enable those of us working to support directly impacted communities to do so more effectively.

All the best,

Richard Solly,
London Mining Network, England.
