Campbell's Economic "Miracle": Our New Era Nightmare
Unemployment numbers are up and people are feeling less secure about their
social and economic security. It's time for the Liberals to admit their
financial plan has failed and put an end to privatization, layoffs and cuts
to social services.

Fast Fact

Fifty-nine percent of respondents in Northern British Columbia said that as
Christmas nears, they feel their economic circumstances have worsened over
the past year.   Survey conducted November 14-17, 2002  by CGT Research.
Results are considered accurate to within 4.9 percent, 19 times out of 20.
Four hundred respondents were questioned.

CONVENTION DELEGATES RATIFY BOLD ACTION PLAN
A new action plan was ratified by delegates to the 46th Annual BC Federation
of Labour Convention to step up the campaign to fight back against Liberal
attacks on workers, seniors, women, youth, the disabled, First Nations,
unorganized workers and rural communities.

OVER HALF OF NORTHERN BC FAMILIES SAY THEY'RE WORSE OFF THIS CHRISTMAS
A CGT poll commissioned by the BC Federation of Labour late last month shows
37 percent of people believe they're worse off this Christmas last year, and
the number climbs to 67 percent in northern communities.

UNIONS PLAN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR GRAINWORKERS
Locked out Vancouver grain workers received a Christmas bonus from BC unions
this morning when B.C. Federation of Labour President Jim Sinclair presented
a $25,000 cheque to Grain Workers Union (GWU) Local 333 Secretary-Treasurer
Ron Burton.

PRIVATE FINANCING SCHEME FOR NEW FRASER VALLEY HOSPITAL HAS DELAYED PROJECT
FOR MORE THAN A YEAR
Plans for a badly-needed new hospital in the Fraser Valley are more than a
year behind schedule because  the Campbell government is determined to build
the facility as a so-called public-private partnership.
