Hydro's private partner blacklisted in California
California won't be dealing with Accenture, one of 21
companies that California Treasurer Phil Angelides says
undermines the financial markets and shirks
responsibility by hiding in Bermuda. The controversial
company signed a deal July 19 with BC Hydro to provide
core customer, financial and technological operations.

PRIVATIZATION OF LIQUOR DISTRIBUTION COULD INCREASE
SOCIAL COSTS
The controversial July 24 Liberal announcement to
increase private sector involvement in the sales and
distribution of liquor in British Columbia has drawn
sharp criticism throughout the province.

CITIZENS CONTINUE HUNGER STRIKE TO SAVE LOCAL SCHOOL
Residents in Wells, BC have been taking the closure of
the town's only elementary school very seriously.

GLASGOW HOSPITAL DROPS DEAL WITH SODEXHO
The Hospital Employees' Union announced July 30 that
Glasgow's Victoria infirmary has dumped Sodexho, the firm
that held a private cleaning contract for the facility.

Bring your wheels, decorate vehicles with messages about
the cuts to health care, or have fun hitching a ride in
the caravan. The Caravan for Care will "observing the
speed limit" as we convoy down the freeway from
Chilliwack to the Fraser Health Authority offices in
Surrey.

This anti-poverty group has been having a annual
conference with groups from BC for 25 years.
Connecting Legal Services, Womens Groups, Advocacy
Groups, Disability Groups, Metal Health Groups, Union
Groups, and volunteers.
The cost is approximately $400.00 for 5 days.
