On August 9, 2018, a school bus in Yemen full of boys aged 6 to 11 years old was bombed by a Saudi-led coalition. This horrific attack killed 40 children, 11 adults and wounded 79 people. The bomb dropped on these children was a 227kg laser-guided bomb made by American company Lockheed Martin, one of many sold to Saudi Arabia by the United States.

This tragedy was not the first nor the last in the now over 6-year Saudi-led, US-backed war against Yemen. Residential areas, critical infrastructure, hospitals, weddings, and funerals have been the target of this brutal war. Alongside the indiscriminate bombing campaign, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, backed by the U.S., maintain an air, land and sea blockade on Yemen. Yemen today is the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

Alongside the U.S., Prime Minister Trudeau and the government of Canada also has blood on its hands as it continues to profit from selling arms to Saudi Arabia and other countries in the military coalition. The government of Canada’s complicity in the bloodshed against Yemen continues. In 2020 the federal government approved a deal to sell $74-million worth of explosives to Saudi Arabia. This is in addition to their ongoing approval of the sale of $15 billion worth of Light Armoured Vehicles (LAVs) equipped with heavy guns and cannons to Saudi Arabia.

Join peace-loving people across Canada and in the United States to demand #CanadaStopArmingSaudi, and join Vancouver activists taking this urgent demand to the office of Canada's Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan!
