This event will take place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

For nearly four years, the U.S.-backed, Saudi Arabia-led coalition has continuously bombed the people of Yemen. The latest victims of their brutality were 8 people living in a displaced persons camp, who were killed in a Saudi bombing on January 28, 2019. This devastating war has killed 60,000 people in Yemen and 20 million more, two-thirds of the population, face severe food insecurity. The United Nations has declared Yemen the “world’s worst humanitarian crisis”.

During this bloody war, the U.S. Trump administration signed an $110 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia. The government of Canada has also continued its arms sales to Saudi Arabia, including a $15 billion deal for vehicles armed with heavy guns and a cannon.

It is our human responsibility to join the people of Yemen in their fight for peace, freedom and self-determination without foreign interventions and aggression. We must hold the U.S. government and their allies such as Canada accountable for their support and backing of the Saudi-led war on Yemen!
