This event will be taking place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

Backed by the United States, Saudi Arabia started its brutal war against Yemen in March 2015. Today, after 3 years of a deliberately brutal bombing campaign and blockade on Yemen, more than 15,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands more have been injured. According to the United Nations, a record 22.2 million people (80% of population) need humanitarian assistance, including 8.4 million people that are threatened by severe hunger.

Despite blatant human rights violations, Saudi Arabia was also the second largest importer of military goods from Canada in 2016. The Canadian government is also quietly moving ahead with a $15 billion arms deal to supply Saudi Arabia with vehicles equipped with weaponry.

Join MAWO on Monday March 26 to discuss the current situation in Yemen, why the governments of Canada and the U.S. are backing this brutal war, and building a stronger and more effective movement against war and occupation.
