These events will be taking place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

Join Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) for our first anti-war, anti-occupation organizing meeting of 2018. The meeting will begin with 45 minutes of news clips and multimedia; an overview of US-led wars, occupations and threats, as well as people’s resistance to imperialist attacks and intervention. We will also be discussing MAWO’s past actions, and planning for upcoming actions, including our monthly antiwar rally on Saturday, January 27.

In only the first few weeks, the year 2018 has proven to be one of increasing U.S.-led wars and occupations. The U.S. government and their allies are leading an aggressive campaign of threats and sanctions against North Korea; Yemen continues to face an escalating humanitarian crisis with daily bombing and attacks from Saudi Arabia; and once again, Iran is in the targets of the imperialist governments.

As this war machine continues its path of death and destruction around the world, from Syrian and Iraq, to Palestine and Venezuela, now is the time for all peace-loving people to come to the streets against this new era of war and occupation and for self-determination for all oppressed nations!

((( 3 ))) U.S. Hands Off North Korea United Actions a Great Success!

In organizing the “Vancouver Group” summit on North Korea, the United States and Canada tried to dig up old Cold War nuclear fears and alliances to justify their aggression on the Korean Peninsula. Leading peace organizers from around the world also met in Vancouver at the same time - to forge their own alliances and demonstrate that there is a clear alternative that does not involve sanctions, threats or military aggression. Vancouver's anti-war coalition, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) was heavily involved in these political activities – organizing its own “Hands Off North Korea!” public forum with retired U.S. Army Colonel Ann Wright and Professor Michel Chossudovsky, and participating in all the "Vancouver Women's Forum on Peace and Security on the Korean Peninsula" actions, which brought 16 leading women peace organizers from around the world to Vancouver.
