This event will be take place on the traditional and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.

At the end of March, the U.S. government enacted a $700 billion military budget, the largest in U.S. history. This military budget fuels the death and destruction caused by the U.S. military around the world, from Syria and Iraq, to Afghanistan, Libya, Palestine, Yemen and across the Middle East and North Africa. Today, the U.S. government has over 800 foreign military bases, and is also increasing their threats against Iran, North Korea and Venezuela. Now Trump and the U.S. government are threatening to launch a brutal military attack against Syria.

What Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said in 1966 during the U.S. war on Vietnam still rings true today “the bombs in Vietnam explode at home.” As the U.S. government and their allies, including Canada, increase their war drive abroad - they have also ramped up their attacks on poor, working and oppressed people at home. This war has taken on many vicious forms including cuts to healthcare and education, attacks on civil liberties, and increasing Islamophobia and racism.

On Friday, May 13, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) is joining in a coordinated period of action based in the United States known as the “Spring Mobilizations to End the Wars at Home and Abroad.” For more information on the coordinated Spring Actions, and a list of all the cities involved visit: www.springaction2018.org
