In the first 30 days of the Trump presidency, U.S.-led wars, occupations and foreign intervention have continued to bring untold death and destruction to people across the Middle East and North Africa.

The U.S. proxy war in Syria rages on. Half of the country has been displaced, and tens of thousands of people killed. The Pentagon is now considering sending ground troops. As well, there are over 5,000 U.S. troops in neighboring Iraq. Under the justification of “fighting Daesh (ISIS/ISIL)” U.S. forces have dropped bombs on Iraqi hospitals, schools and civilians.

With the support of the U.S. and their imperialist allies, Saudi Arabia has also continued its brutal bombing assault on the people of Yemen.  On January 29, Trump ordered a disastrous raid which claimed the life of over 30 innocent Yemenis and one U.S. Navy Seal.

On top of this brutality, in the name of “protecting the nation from foreign terrorist entry,” Trump issued an executive order banning anyone from seven Muslim countries, all of which are targets of U.S.-led intervention: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The ban has been temporarily halted in U.S. courts – but the Trump administration continues to try and find ways to increase their Islamophobic attacks.

As peace-loving people in Canada, we must protest against all imperialist wars and occupations as well as the government of Canada’s role as an ally of the U.S. in their bloody attacks, including in Syria and Iraq. Recently, Canadian military officials have also confirmed that Canadian fighter jets have returned to the skies of Syria, carrying out re-fueling and intelligence missions.

Join MAWO in the streets of Vancouver this Friday, February 24 as we stand against U.S.-led wars, occupations and intervention and demand:
