As part of internationally coordinated days of action, in cities around the world, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) in Vancouver is joining with people around the world to call urgent attention to the horrific atrocities in Yemen.

For 18 months a Saudi Arabian led coalition backed by the United States and their imperialist allies has been bombarding the people of Yemen. The brutality of their attacks grows daily. On October 8, Saudi Arabia launched a deadly airstrike on a funeral, killing 142 people and injuring 525 people with a 500lb bomb manufactured in the U.S. The Saudi-led coalition has also imposed a devastating air, land and sea blockade on Yemen. Less than one-week after the deadly funeral bombing, the United States launched a cruise missile assault on radar communication sites in Yemen, escalating their direct intervention.

The war on the people of Yemen has killed at least 10,000 people since it began in March of 2015 and has destroyed countless homes, hospitals, infrastructure and historic sites. The people of Yemen are not only living under constant bombing, but have also been denied access to food, water and medicines. The World Food Program has declared that nine provinces in Yemen are on the brink of famine. At least 3 million people have been internally displaced, that means 1 in 10 Yemenis.

However, despite this bloody war, imperialist governments continue to support the Saudi-led coalition, as well as sell deadly military weaponry to Saudi Arabia. This includes the government of Canada, which has a $15billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia for the sale of armoured military vehicles.

We invite all peace-loving people to join us in the streets to raise awareness and collect petition signatures to make our demands loud and clear:
