Since January of 2015, over 1.2 million refugees, a majority from
Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, have escaped war-torn countries and
risked their lives to get to Europe for a chance at life. This refugee
crisis, is one of the biggest human disasters in history. The new era
of war and occupation, which began with the U.S.-led invasion of
Afghanistan in 2001 resulted in the killing and displacement of
millions of people in the Middle East and North Africa. Today the
lives of people in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen and across
the Middle East and North Africa have reached the point of
unimaginable human tragedy.

In the last 15 years while this human tragedy has continued,
imperialist governments have launched a racist campaign of targeting
and fear-mongering of Muslims, especially in Europe. It is clear that
Islamophobia is rampant and on the rise. This is true whether you look
at the justifications of imperialist governments for "anti-terrorism"
legislation such as Bill C-51 in Canada, or the discrimination against
Muslims and attacks on mosques and Islamic institutions, as well as
harassment and physical attacks on Muslims in Europe and North
America.

Join Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) on May 18 to
discuss Islamophobia, what is is, how it is being used by imperialist
governments and what we can do to organize to defeat it!
