Iraq today is a country that has been completely destroyed and devastated by U.S. wars, occupations and intervention. At least 1 million people in Iraq have lost their lives since the U.S. led invasion 13 years ago. There is no shortage of statistics for how the U.S.-led war and occupation of Iraq has destroyed the lives of Iraqi people; the rate of cancer in the country has increased by 40 times, the infant mortality rate has increased 150 percent , 70 percent of Iraqis lack access to clean water and 80 percent lack proper sanitation. 

Over the last 13 years, this unbelievable level of destruction has not only been leveled against people of Iraq. U.S.-led interventions have also completely destroyed Libya and Afghanistan, as well as brought complete chaos, destruction and death to people in Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Mali and Yemen. 

The government of Canada is a close ally of the U.S. government in this vicious war drive. Not only did Canada play a big part in the 2003 invasion of Iraq and continued occupation, the government of Canada is continuing to support and participate in imperialist wars and occupations in the Middle East and Africa today. 

As we mark 13 years since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) invites you to join us for two antiwar actions on March 18, 2016.
