*** DATE CHANGE:  MAWO supporters are encouraged to attend the protest action against the Kinder Morgan Pipeline at 1pm on Saturday, January 23 in Burnaby, and thus MAWO's monthly antiwar rally and petition campaign has been changed to Friday January 22 at 4pm. ***

As we enter the new year of 2016 we continue to see escalating imperialist wars and occupations against the people of North Africa and the Middle East, especially the US/UK/Canada/France/NATO war drive on Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen.

The most recent front in the new era of war and occupation is the US backed Saudi led bombing campaign on Yemen. While Saudi Arabia continues to commit atrocities against the people of Yemen, the Canadian government says it is going ahead with a $15 billion arms deal with the government of Saudi Arabia.

Over five years of US led aggression and war on Syria has left the country in a state of complete destruction. This imperialist imposed civil war has destroyed most of the country's infrastructure and displaced over half of Syria's population. As harsh winter conditions hit parts of Syria, more than 12 million Syrians, nearly half of them children, are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance according to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Join Mobilization Against War & Occupation for our first anti-war rally of 2016 on Friday, January 22. Together we will take a stand against imperialist war and occupation and demand self-determination for all oppressed nations!
