In the month of January, 2016 over 55,000 refugees crossed the cold and vicious waters of the Mediterranean, fleeing their homes in the Middle East and Africa for Europe. This is nearly 13 times as many refugees that made the same crossing in January, 2015. In Syria more than half of the population has been displaced within or outside of the country after 5 years of a brutal imperialist fomented civil war. The crisis in this brutalized country deepens as the United States and their allies continue support and funding of so-called moderate Syrian rebels. Now Turkey, a country closely allied with the U.S., has begun bombing in Syria and even calling for a ground-troop invasion by Turkish troops.

Today Yemen is facing a humanitarian crisis. The U.S.-backed Saudi Arabian assault on Yemen that began nearly one year ago has destroyed much of the basic infrastructure in the country including 1,170 schools and 600 health facilities, often times using U.S.-supplied cluster bombs in their raids. 

Every day there are more and more reasons to end these criminal wars and occupations! Join MAWO in the streets of Vancouver on February 20, 2016 to add your voice to that of people fighting against U.S.-led interventions, wars and occupations around the world!
