Public attention
around the world is focused on the crisis of refugees fleeing the
Middle East and Africa to Europe. A huge number of Syrian and Iraqi
refugees contribute to the staggering figures of those making the
perilous journey from their war-torn homelands.  The rise of the
terrorist group ISIS/ISIL in both of these countries has also had
increasingly well publicized and bloody consequences.



Syria now has the
highest number of displaced people around the world. 40% of its
population has been displaced in the last four years since the
beginning of the U.S.-fomented civil war in the country. This year
Iraq has also experienced the highest growth in the number of
internally displaced people of any country in the world – this
while the U.S. started a new war on the country with the claim of
fighting ISIS/ISIL.



Mainstream media is
ignoring the roots of the rise of ISIS/ISIL in Iraq and Syria, just
as they are ignoring the roots of the current refugee crisis.
However, peace-loving people around the world are increasingly
looking for real answers to these critical questions. They are
questioning the policies and priorities of imperialist countries, and
their consequences both at home and abroad. 




Join us for this
forum to discuss:
> What is the
result of 12 years of U.S.-led war and occupation in Iraq, and four
years of U.S.-fomented civil war in Syria?
> How has U.S.
military intervention in Iraq and Syria effected the growth of
ISIS/ISIL?
> Are governments
of the U.S., Canada, and Europe responsible for the current refugee
crisis?
> What should be
our demands given the current crisis?
