We will bike together through the streets of downtown Vancouver, with bikes decorated with Cuban 5 posters to raise awareness about the case of the Cuban 5! The bike ride will end at U.S. Consulate.

The first ever Bicycle Rally for the Cuban 5 was organized in June 2014 in Washington DC as part of the 3rd Annual “5 Days for the Cuban 5″. The original idea came from Cuban 5 hero Rene Gonzalez, who since returning to Cuba after 13 years of unjust imprisonment in the U.S., has continued to lead and inspire the international movement to free ALL the Cuban 5. Since June, similar Bicycle Rallies have taken place in New York, Belgium, San Francisco, and Cuba. The Bicycle Rally in Washington DC was organized and led by the Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver delegation, and now is the time to bring the idea here to Vancouver! The first Bicycle Rally for the Cuban 5 in Canada is taking place in Vancouver this October 5th part of the International Month of Solidarity with the Cuban 5 Heroes Sept 12- Oct 6. 

The October 5th actions in Vancouver also mark the 38th anniversary of the 1976 bombing of Air Cubana Flight 455. This bombing which killed all 73 innocent passengers on board was masterminded by anti-Cuban terrorist Luis Posada Carriles. While 3 of our 5 Cuban Heroes, anti-terrorists who saved lives, remain locked behind U.S. prison walls for over 16 years, the anti-Cuban terrorists responsible for this atrocious act and the deaths of over 3400 people in Cuba continue to walk free. 

Now that Cuban 5 Heroes Fernando González and René González are released and free in Cuba, leading the campaign to free their brothers Antonio, Ramón and Gerardo, our work globally becomes much more important.

Join us this Sunday October 5, out on the streets of Vancouver for Canada's first Bicycle Rally for the Cuban 5 and the 107th consecutive monthly protest for the Cuban 5 at the U.S. Consulate!

WHO ARE THE 5 CUBAN HEROES?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González, also known as the Cuban 5, are five men who were wrongly accused and convicted in a U.S. Federal Court of “conspiracy to commit espionage” and other fabricated charges, following their arrest and imprisonment in 1998. The 5 were actually unarmed men involved in monitoring Miami-based terrorist organizations, which since 1959 have been responsible for the deaths of over 3,400 people in Cuba, including one resident of Canada, Fabio di Celmo, in 1997. Through their important work, these 5 men were able to prevent further deaths in Cuba. As of March, 2014 René González and Fernando González have both returned permanently to Cuba in a great victory for justice-loving people all over the world. Gerardo, Ramón, and Antonio remain unjustly in U.S. jails facing sentences up to double-life plus 15 years.

La primera Bicicletada por los Cinco fue organizada en ju nio de 2014 en Washington DC, como parte de la tercera jornada mundial anual "5 Días por los 5". La idea original vino del héroe cubano René González, quien desde que regreso a Cuba luego de 13 años de injusto encarcelamiento en los Estados Unidos ha continuado liderando e inspirando al movimiento internacional para liberar a TODOS los Cinco. Desde junio, bicicletadas similares han tenido lugar en Nueva York, Bélgica, San Francisco y Cuba. ¡La Bicicletada en Washington DC fue organizada y encabezada por la delegación del Comité de Vancouver por la Liberación de los Cinco, y es hora de traer esta idea a Vancouver!
La primera bicicletada por los Cinco Cubanos en Canadá tendrá lugar en Vancouver este 5 de octubre como parte del Mes Internacional de Solidaridad con los Cinco Héroes Cubanos, del 12 de septiemrbe al 6 de octubre.

Las acciones del 5 de octubre en Vancouver también marcan el 38 aniversario del sabotaje en 1976 al Vuelo 455 de Cubana. Este sabotaje, que mató a 73 pasajeros inocentes a bordo del vuelo, fue organizado por el terrorista anticubano Luis Posada Carriles. Mientras tres de nuestros cinco Héroes Cubanos, anti-terroristas que salvaron vidas, permanecen encerrados en cárceles norteamericanas por más de 16 años, los terroristas anticubanos responsables por este acto atroz y la muerte de más de 3400 personas en Cuba siguen en libertad.

Ahora que los héroes Fernando González y René González fueron excarcelados y están libres en Cuba, encabezando la campaña para liberar a sus hermanos Antonio, Ramón y Gerardo, nuestro trabajo globalmente se hace mucho más importante.

¡Únanse a nosotros este domingo 5 de octubre en las calles de Vancouver para la primera bicicletada en Canadá por los Cinco Héroes y la 107ma acción consecutiva mensual de protesta por los Cinco frente al Consulado de Estados Unidos!

¿QUIÉNES SON LOS CINCO HÉROES CUBANOS?

Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González y René González, también conocidos como los Cinco, son cinco hombres que fueron injustamente acusados y condenados en una Corte Federal de Estados Unidos por "conspiración para cometer asesinato" y otros cargos fabricados, siguiendo su arresto y encarcelamiento en 1998. Los Cinco eran en realidad hombres desarmados que estaban monitoreando a las organizaciones terroristas basadas en Miami, las cuales desde 1959 han sido responsables de las muertes de más de 3400 personas en Cuba, incluyendo a un residente en Canadá, Fabio di Celmo, en 1997. Gracias a su importante trabajo, estos cinco hombres pudieron evitar más muertes en Cuba. Hasta marzo de 2014, René González y Fernando González habían regresado a Cuba de manera permanente, en una gran victoria para las personas que aman la justicia en todo el mundo.
