Two incidents in Quebec and Ottawa almost one month ago had
tragic consequences with the deaths of two innocent and unarmed soldiers.
However these events are only made all the more tragic as they are being used
to justify the government of Canada’s war drive and the further killing of
innocent people under war, occupation and military aggression. The mainstream
media and politicians have jumped on the chance to heighten their fear campaign
of “home grown” terrorism, but what purpose does this fear-mongering have? How
is the government of Canada limiting democratic and human rights as well as
civil liberties here at home? While the government of Canada condemns
terrorism, what is their track record of terrorist actions and policies against
the people of Afghanistan with 13 years of war and occupation and against
Indigenous people here in Canada for hundreds of years? Now Canada is
committing terrorism against the people of Iraq, as they participate in air
strikes with six CF-18 fighters, two surveillance aircrafts, an air-to-air tanker
and 600 military personal. Join MAWO for this forum and discussion on
“Terrorism in Canada or by Canada?”
