Since 2003, the number of Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW's) in Canada has
more than tripled. The push for expansion of the TFW Program has largely
come from employers’ organizations and business lobbies. Meanwhile
permanent pathways to residency have been drastically impacted - from
exclusionary refugee laws to cuts to family sponsorships.

The more than 300,000 migrant workers in Canada are tied to their employer
and have limited rights. If they quit their jobs or are fired, they face
deportation. Stories of poor working conditions, unpaid wages and other
abuse are common and finally filling the media.

Now the same government that has vastly expanded the Temporary Foreign
Workers Program claim they will bring in stricter new rules to protect
Canadian jobs.

How should the progressive community in Canada respond? Join us for a
roundtable discussion with labour and migrant justice organizers.
