PART III: What Has Been Achieved? Afghanistan in Perspective...
 
Please
 join MAWO for the third part of this three-part seminar, “What Has Been
 Achieved? Afghanistan in Perspective...” Part three will look at the 
many myths of progress, from democracy to woman's rights, to civil 
society and infrastructure. Although the government of Canada claimed to
 have withdrawn all of their troops from Afghanistan, they still have 
their bloody hands in Afghanistan as they pour $227 million into 
so-called “development assistance” and $330 million to the Afghan 
National Security Forces as well as keeping so-called training forces in
 Afghanistan. Can the government of Canada reconstruct what it has 
destroyed in 12 years of war and occupation with “development 
assistance”? Why does Afghanistan have millions of displaced people and 
refugees living in the worst conditions? Why does Afghanistan have one 
of the highest rates of working children in the world? These questions 
and more are what will be on the table at the last part of this seminar.

The
 first part of this seminar “September 11, 2001, War on Terror and the 
Role of Canada in the New Era of War and Occupation” on April 23rd 
discussed the roots of the imperialist war drive in Afghanistan. The 
second part, "Canada in Afghanistan: War and Occupation, War and 
Occupation and War and Occupation" on May 7th put a spotlight on 
Canada's role in Afghanistan, with all of the scandals and the criminal 
and brutal slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent Afghans by direct 
military action or by drones.
 
Speaker, NITA PALMER, is the 
author of the book “War and Occupation in Afghanistan: Which Way 
Forward?” (Battle of Ideas Press, 2010, ISBN 978-0-9864716-0-5)
