>> State Terrorism at its Worst: Guantanamo Prison, U.S. Gestapo at Work

TUESDAY January 28, 2014
7pm
Joe's Cafe [In Large North Hall]
1150 Commercial Dr. at William St

12
years have passed since the first prisoners arrived at the now infamous
Guantanamo prison, as of January 11th 2014. In those 12 years, nearly
800 men have been held, many for over a decade, in this prison known for
unlawful and indefinite detention and for the horrors of torture. Today
155 men are still held behind bars in Guantanamo prison.

This
second forum of the three part series will feature a screening of the
film “Road to Guantanamo” which is a true and shocking account of three
British Muslim men who were held without charge at Guantanamo for two
years. The film will be followed by a short presentation from MAWO
co-chair Janine Solanki, looking at the legal, human rights and
political points of why Guantanamo prison merits this forums title of
“U.S. Gestapo at Work”. Discussion period will follow the film and
speaker.
