Increasingly the U.S. military
is making use of drone attacks in their so-called “silent wars”. The impact of
these “silent wars,” carried out with unmanned drones that remotely fire missiles
on targets thousands of miles away, are silent for the American public. U.S.
soldiers are not being killed on the battlefield, they are in offices where
after a days work of remote-controlled killing, they can go home for dinner.



 





However the use of drone warfare
is anything but silent for the targets. Nearly 4,000 people have been killed
from U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia, (as reported by the
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism) where the U.S. is waging an undeclared
war of terror. Despite claims of drones using precision targeting, the
overwhelming majority of the victims are civilians, including women and
children. The use of drones has increased more than six times since U.S.
President Obama has been in office, prompting CNN to name drones Obama’s
“Weapon of Choice”.



 





This new extremely dangerous and
illegal type of warfare is becoming more and more an issue that the antiwar
movement around the world is discussing and protesting against. Join this forum
to find out the history of drone wars and to discuss how antiwar activists and
peace-loving people in Vancouver and beyond can join in opposing this criminal
activity and to demand an end to drone warfare.
