 A Balance Sheet of 12 Years of War & Occupation”

Please join
 us for this film showing, which will put a spotlight on the brutal and 
longstanding war and occupation of Afghanistan. The films will be a 
introduction to the MAWO Seminar in 3 Parts “Canada in Afghanistan: A 
Balance Sheet of 12 Years of War & Occupation” which begins on 
Wednesday April 23rd. For more info on the seminar please see the next 
event below.

>> CANADA: IMPERIALIST AT HOME, IMPERIALIST ABROAD (2013)
The
 Afghanistan chapter of this film, produced by MAWO, walks through the 
war and occupation of Afghanistan, and especially details Canada's heavy
 involvement throughout the occupation.
>> RETHINK AFGHANISTAN (2009)
This
 groundbreaking film on Afghanistan was one of the first to take an 
in-depth, critical look at Afghanistan, after 8 years of war and 
occupation. Rethink Afghanistan features experts from Afghanistan, the 
US, and Russia answering questions like: Is the US/Canada/NATO military 
presence helping the people of Afghanistan? Does it help Afghan women? 
How does the occupation of Afghanistan affect Pakistan and the 
surrounding region?

PART I: September 11, 2001, War on Terror and the Role of Canada in the New Era of War and Occupation

Part
 one will discuss the roots of the imperialist war drive and how Canada 
responded to the US call to their imperialist allies, in order to have a
 part in the division of labour of going to war and occupying 
Afghanistan. We will discuss Canada's full participation and 
involvement, and Canada's complicity in the atrocities in Afghanistan.
