In the last month, an imperialist military attack against Syria has been on the brink of reality. Fuelled with claims that the Syrian government was responsible for the August 21st chemical weapons attack in Damascus, politicians from the US, England, France and Canada have been full of inflammatory threats of military intervention, and aided by the lies and fabrication running rampant throughout the mainstream media. Despite recent diplomatic developments, the government of the US and its allies are still continuing to intervene in Syria as they have been over the last two years. Anti-government mercenaries in Syria are still receiving funding, arms and training from imperialists and their regional allies such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar. These mercenaries continue to inflict chaos and destruction against Syria and the Syrian people. 

The government of Canada has closed its diplomatic mission and embassy in Syria, and has admitted to providing $4.4 million of “non-military” support to the “Syrian opposition”. In Vancouver, we will be protesting and petitioning to demand the government of Canada end its travel, trade and economic sanctions against Syria, stop intervening in Syria’s internal affairs, and not involve itself in any military attack or foreign intervention in Syria.
