>> Afghanistan: 12 Years of War & Occupation, What Now?

October
 7th marked 12 years of brutal and criminal war and occupation in 
Afghanistan. In order to consolidate their occupation, the US Secretary 
of State John Kerry was in Afghanistan last week. The US and the 
government of Afghanistan are working out an agreement that would see US
 troops in Afghanistan beyond the 2014 withdrawal date. While the 
Bilateral Security Pact remains in negotiations still, essentially the 
agreement will be an extension of the occupation with more freedom 
granted to US troops to commit atrocities against the Afghan people with
 immunity.

12 years of war and occupation has brought killings, 
air strikes, drone strikes, night raids and checkpoint shootings, as 
well as poverty and the lowering of living standards for the Afghan 
people. For 12 years, the Afghan people have had their 
self-determination denied while foreign troops, including still Canadian
 troops, continue to occupy their country.
